A beautiful way to use up pears while they are in season.
Peel pears and cut in half.
Tightly pack into an ovenproof dish, add the other ingredients and bake at 180 degrees for 1 hour.
Allow to cool slightly and serve.
4 beurre bosc pears
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped*
1 ½ cups sweet Riesling (or any other wine)*
¾ cup caster sugar*
